Junior Medal and Awards Day
Sunday 29th June 2025
Click here for running order (updated 5/6/25)
Hello,
Thank you so much for signing up to dance a solo at our Medals and Awards day on Sunday 29th June at Quorn Village Hall.
There will be an incredible 112 performances throughout the day (and that's just Juniors! We've moved our older students to a different day this year). So we're doing our very best to make sure the day is planned well and runs super smoothly so that each and every one of our dancers has the most wonderful confidence-building experience.
HOW IT WORKS
The day is split into Sections.
Dancers within each section must be present for the ENTIRE section, arriving 15minutes before the section start time. Dancers sit in order and each perform their routine watched encouragingly by our special guests (Miss Ellie Eccles and Miss Annabel Banks - instructors of our Senior pupils at AMC). After all the dancers within the section have performed, they line up and receive comments and their award from Miss Ellie or Miss Annabel. After this has completed, you can go home or quickly get ready for your next section.
Dancers and Audience members are not to come and go during the section as this is very distracting to our dancers. If you do need to leave or reenter for the toilet or those needing to change for a 2nd dance within the same section please exit and enter BETWEEN performances. There are lots of dancers dancing twice within one section, after your first performance please escort your dancer and get them ready for their next dance in the community room behind the stage and then reenter the hall once ready (between dances).
PROMPTING
Your teacher will also be there for your performance to encourage you and prompt or dance along as required. We are very good at reading how much help and prompting is required as we go, what a brilliant achievement it is for our dancers when they remember the whole routine themselves - this is what we should be aiming for.
THE RUNNING ORDER
Click the green link at the top of this page for the full running order. As you can appreciate, it's been really tricky putting this together taking so many variables into account. We've worked really hard to try and make sure all children are only required for a maximum of 2 sessions, and (wherever possible) that these sessions are concurrent so that the children don't have to hang around too long. Sadly no amendments can be made at this stage (unless I've made an error).
WHAT TO WEAR
These performances should be costumed and not in AMC uniform (so that it feels like a proper performance). As this is a solo performance, there's a flexibility in what you can wear. However, you should always wear the correct dance shoes, have all hair very neatly styled and tied back and choose an outfit that is appropriate, safe to dance in and we can properly see your dance steps and arms - (floor length dresses for example aren't appropriate).
As a guide, here is what your teachers have suggested...
-
BALLET 1 (Teddy Bears Picnic) - Dress as a teddy bear, or wear teddy bear accessories with a pretty outfit, ballet shoes
-
BALLET 2&3 SATURDAY CLASS (Hercules - Go the Distance) - a pretty dress, ballet shoes
-
BALLET 2 SUNDAY CLASS (Beautiful Briny) - beach or under the sea style outfit (could be swimming costume, goggles on head, a beach dress/outfit or similar), ballet shoes
-
BALLET 3 (A Spoonful of Sugar) - Either dress up as Mary Poppins or a pretty dress, ballet shoes
-
JUNIOR TAP (Walking on Sunshine) - A bright and cheerful outfit of your choosing! Tap shoes

-
JUNIOR STREET (Trolls) - A very cool outfit. Please note, any hats need to be secured and not inhibit your dancing! Clean Trainers
