Show Logistics
So the time is nearly here! SHOWTIME!
I am so excited to see all of you take to the stage!! Please bear with this super long explanation, i've tried to include as much logistical info as possible so you are all in the loop. If you have any queries please whatsapp me on 07842098146 (bearing in mind I cannot reply whilst I'm teaching).
INFORMATION
COSTUMES
- All of your costumes (which you should be bring to your final class before show weekend as well as the dress rehearsal and shows) are listed on www.amcschoolofdance.co.uk/costumes
- Hair: All female School of Dance pupils are to have their hair as follows for all dances within the show: Ballet Donut Bun you can see a tutorial here. Use lots of hairspray, we want the hair slicked and sleek with no fringes or wispy bits at all please.
The only exceptions to this are girls with very short hair - in these instances any fringe must be extremely neatly clipped back, and adults who have free reign. If you are struggling with hair please let us know ahead of time and we will pair you with someone to help.
- Make Up - foundation, red lipstick, blue eyeshadow, blusher (plus black mascara and eyeliner for older pupils) is encouraged for all female pupils (a little foundation for boys is also a good idea). Show lighting tends to make you look washed out so we go heavy on the make up - it's also a fun part of the experience. However, if your child does not want to/you don't want your child to wear make up that is absolutely fine.
- KEEPING ORGANISED - It's really important that ALL costumes, shoes, accessories and other items are clearly labelled with your child's name - remember we are all wearing similar things! It is also advisable to have a large bag or box that ALL of your items are kept in - do not bring lots of bags. We'd also recommend bringing a quiet non-messy activity (pencil colour, puzzle etc) to keep you child amused whilst backstage. We'd advise not bringing any valuables backstage - Juniors and Inters are not allowed to bring mobile phones backstage, PreSeniors & Seniors are permitted to bring phones with them however these must not be used to take any photos/videos and their use will be at the discretion of the room chaperones.

TICKETS
This year we have used Stage Stubs for selling our tickets. Your ticket is therefore you booking confirmation email. There are no paper tickets to collect. Make sure you have your booking confirmation to hand when arriving to watch so we can scan to confirm and seat you - just like at any other theatre.

RAFFLE AND REFRESHMENTS
- We have an incredible raffle happening raising money for Dementia UK and Lonsdale Mews Care Home Activity Fund, as well as show programmes and competitions available for the audience at all of our shows. Please dig deep as all profits go to the charities. Please note this will all be cash only.
We are super lucky to this year have Freckles refreshment truck for interval drinks, cakes and filled cobs.

BACKSTAGE
- We are following the child performance and child performer safeguarding regulations as set out by Leicestershire County Council. We have been granted the appropriate licenses and we have 37 volunteers (all Registered Chaperones or DBS Helpers) rota'd backstage to look after your children. We are not allowing any parents backstage to maintain safeguarding control. Please remember those in only Ballet 1 do not have to come back stage at all.
- Whilst backstage and not dancing, we will bring some colouring etc and quiet activities for our Juniors, Preinters and Intermediates (they always have a fab time)
- Please provide your child with plenty of non-messy snacks and a name-labelled bottle of water.
- To drop off or collect your child you will need to go to the Help Desk which will be located in the main dining hall (adjacent to the Theatre). There will be sign in and out sheets. Once your child has been signed in, they are in our care and will be in their dressing room when not on stage. If you’re watching the show and your child is only in one half and has a ticket to watch with you - and you are therefore responsible for them they should not be signed in - you should only sign them in for when they are backstage.
For Adult performers, there will also be a sign in and out sheet at the Help Desk for you so please head there - this helps us keep track of who is in the building.

- We really would like to push for the full cast to be present for finale of Show 3 please so we can celebrate together, this is also the finale that is being filmed, so would prefer for all performers to stay til the end of this performance even if they are just in the first half. We have lots of activities for them to stay back stage, or you can sign them back in to our care at the helpdesk during the raffle break.

BALLET 1 - When you arrive at the raffle break at the dress rehearsal and all 3 shows, one of our 'pink team' will welcome you and your dancer and show you to a special area to sit together within the theatre. Once the show resumes there is one dance for you to watch and then Miss Ann (in character as the Candy Man) and Miss Adele and Miss Sarah will invite your dancer on stage via the front steps as part of the script. They then perform their dance and return to you. You both will then be taken to the finale queue in the dining area. Please swap them into black leggings and their finale tshirt (you'll get this on 23rd) whilst in the queue. Grownups wait in the queue until it's their turn to bow (you slip back through the theatre door to see them again on stage). After the finale, the first children to leave are ballet 1 who go straight to their grownups. If you have decided to watch a show with your dancer (they need a ticket!) they stay in the audience with you until Miss Anna calls them on stage.

PHOTOS AND VIDEOS - audience photography and video will be prohibited. We are however having lots of photos taken during the dress rehearsal and show 1. We are also having show 3 professionally filmed - DVDs (including digital stream) will be available to purchase for £15. Should we reach our DVD sales target (we need to sell 60 to break even - so are setting a target of 50) we will release all the photos free for you all.

MINDSET - You have all worked so incredibly hard and we are going to be so proud of seeing you perform. Please practice and prepare well in this last week to get as confident in your routines as possible, and then - enjoy it! Your instructors will be right by your side every step of the way. You will have such a great time I absolutely promise.

Many thanks,
